Well, there has been a small little thing called an ELECTION since I've been gone. A new "kind of politics" has come into motion. The Tories and the Lib Dem's are now in coalition, the first time in 13 a Tory PM has been in Downing street and the first liberals in the Cabinet since the 2nd World War!
Firstly lets say a well done to Nick Clegg. Lets face it, if the Lib Dem's still had Sir Ming as their leader, I doubt they would've done very well. As soon as that first debate ended I knew that we had just seen history and MAYBE (JUST MAYBE) we might see the Lib Dem's in power. They've done extremly well and they've got as good a deal as possible between themselves and the Tories.
Also well done to David Cameron, after 2 years as opposition leader, he's finally in Downing Street and ready to do business. Just think though, if the Tories hadn't got power, the Tories would've kicked him of the leadership post in the party and they'd be doing a Labour.
I'll be honest, I voted Labour in the general election, personally I chose Labour on the basis of:
My MP is a Labour MP
Is he doing a good job? Yes!
Then he'll do nicely
Of course the poltiical landscape in Bury (where I live) has changed a lot. Ivan Lewis kept his seat in Bury South but with a much smaller majority (from 50% in 2005 to 40% in 2010) And David Nuttal beat the Labour candidate quite convisingly (but with a much smaller majority than expected.
I was listening to a radio 4 programme the Saturday after the coalition had been announced and an analysist said that all the major parites had done really well in the election. Lets just have a look at firstly the expectations and then the actual results:
Conservatives: 12 months ago they had a 10-20 point lead in all the opinion polls. Expected a landslide maybe bigger than that of Tony Blair in 1997
Labour: Expected to loose power and to loose pretty badly
Lib Dems: Expected a huge amount of new seats
Conservatives: Didn't get overall power, had to make a coalition with the Lib Dem's to get into power
Labour: Didn't have such a bad night, kept the Tories out of government and clung on to power by being the party with the most amount of seats
Lib Dems: Didn't win any new seats and in fact lost 3
From what I can see, the party that actually LOST the election (Labour) was the best performing party! Hows that fair????
I know that this was a pretty big rant, but hey ho, and I'm sure it'll bring some entertainment to someones life :)
Bye for now, might do another blog tonight or you might just have to wait tomorrow

hello again
Sorry I've been away dear readers. When one has a cold and then an ear infection, you don't feel like doing much........including coming on here and updating it!
However I am 90% fixed, drugged up and almost happy, which is always a very good thing.
I hope everyone had a great bank holiday. Because it is my grandma's birthday on Thursday, all the family- including my auntie, uncle and cousin who are here from Switzerland- were all at a resturant yesterday and it was 3 hours of "organisation" When I say that.....my granddad messed up everything when we were ordering and a few other things went wrong but hey ho.....we survived another Hope Family Dinner.
It's the final week of campaigning before the big day on Thursday. Looking forward to the long Thursday night/ Friday morning and probably the whole weekend of negoations.
I've been asked something by a few people recently. In the current opnion polls, Labour are in last place but they could still be in power on Friday, how is that so?
It's all to do with our voting system. First-past-the-post, nearer to the election I'll tell you all about it:)
Bye for now and speak later/tomorrow

Who cares?
Why does ANYONE care about what Gordon Brown said yesterday? Yes ok, he shouldn't have said what he said about the pensioner but even so, it's no ones business about what he does and doesn't say in his own privacy. And for those who DO care, just think of this:
Say you don't think someone and you have a little bitch behind their back. What if someone went to that person and told them what you had said and then EVERYONE knew about what you had said? Would you like that? I don't think you would.
Yes I know that he is the leader of our country but, for me, this shows just one thing.......................
GORDON BROWN IS HUMAN!

JUSTICE!
Thank the lord, the SNP are NOT going to be joining David Cameron, Gordon Brown nor Nick Clegg in the prime ministerial debate this Thursday (BBC1, 8:30 just in case your interested)
Why am I so happy I hear you ask dear readers? Because the SNP don't exactly have a right to be on the stage this Thursday. They only have a few seats in Westminster and anyway, the SNP stands for the SCOTTISH nationalists party...... if the BNP had asked the courts then maybe (and thats a very small maybe) I would understand but not the SCOTTISH nationalists party, THAT makes no sense.
My little annoyance became quite true today on the bus ride home. You get near your stop, you press the button so the nice driver knows your getting of at the upcoming stop but then a pensioner -who can't be arsed to look up to see if the light has come on or not (singalling the fact that I have pressed the button)- presses the button just a few seconds later. Now I know I probably sound really really stupid in saying this but..........................................................JUST LOOK UP AT THE LIGHT AND THEN YOU WONT HAVE TO BOTHER PRESSING THE BUTTON. I know its a small thing but -as they say- its the small things which count.
Speak later probably!

why?
Why is it that music can give such powerful emotions? Like at the moment i'm listening to "For once in my life" by Stevie Wonder......makes me feel so happy.......likewise "tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree" is another total classic.
However when I listen to songs like "tell me it's not true" from blood brothers always makes me cry and moonlight sonata just gives me goosebumps.
Whoever first created music, well done to them cause I don't think anyone could live without it these days.
Speaking of music, that muller advert really annoys me now. It used to be really good cause it had that song by nina simone on.......now they're doing their own "version" of it and 1/2 the people cant sing!

hello tinternet!
Well, this almost feels exciting, it's a exciting time in my life and HOPEFULLY I'll be able to talk about everything that happens to me for the next weeks/months/years ahead!
Today- because I am a poll clerk in the upcoming election- I filled out my postal vote for both the local and general election. I won't say who I voted for yet, I'll wait till either May 6th or May 7th.
Apart from that, just the usual college things happend today, had politics and that was about it...................
One thing that REALLY annoyed me today was in our local news at 6:30pm. A woman/mother hadn't bothered sending her 16 year old child to school for the last 2 YEARS and was moaning that she got a 3 week sentence. Personally I think she shouldv'e got more........
Anyone, speak tomorrow hopefully :)
